In the 19th century at Černa Hora on the Czech side of the mountains a more than 3-kilometre (2-mile) sleighing course was created. Back then, ladies in long dresses would go sleighing aboard sleighs with amusingly curled-up runners.
Equipment can be hired on the spot. It is best to choose sleighs with wooden runners. A gondola lift takes visitors to the peak, from where it is downhill sledding all the way. Be mindful of the intersections with ski runs!
After the fun in the snow, we highly recommend a visit to the restaurant next to the gondola-lift station for pork roast and dumplings as well as blueberry-filled ravioli.
